Final Degree Awarded: Master of Science in Electrical Power Engineering
Language of Instruction:
English
Duration of the Programme: Two years
Beginning of the Programme:
October
Goals of the Programme
This programme is designed to train students in modern Electrical Power Engineering. It offers high level education in close co-operation with industry. Students will gain the ability to understand and cope with the various problems of electrical power engineering by the application of scientific methods, including the ability to adapt new scientific findings for the use of electrical power engineering. Students will learn how to apply their knowledge of mathematics and electrical engineering to technical problems, and then solve problems in a global social and economic context.
During the three month industrial internship, students are trained in practical engineering problems. Flexibility and open-mindedness are major qualifications of the electrical engineer.
Structure of the Programme
The programme is comprised of three semesters of lectures, exercises and practical courses, along with a three month industrial internship and a final Master thesis. During the three month industrial internship, students are trained in practical engineering problems. The final master thesis is an independent, pre-defined scientific project to be completed in a fixed period of three months. The master thesis is concluded by an oral presentation.
Students are assessed through six single exams. Additional credits will be earned in seven further courses. In addition, the programme consists of several excursions to industrial plants or power utilities.
